Swell By Ripple: CEO Brad Garlinghouse speaks on Internet of Value

After President Bill Clinton’s Keynote Speech, Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, spoke about the Internet of Value at Swell 2018. Furthermore, Swell by Ripple is an annual conference that brings together leaders and expert in the domain of cryptocurrency. Furthermore, it takes place in San Fransisco.

Brad Garlinghouse urges people to create with Ripple, an Internet of Value, to move value similar to how information flows through the Internet today. The Chief Executive Officer also talked about how it has been Ripple’s mission. Furthermore, he also urged existing global financial services firms to work together to build, and not disrupt the industry.

More about the Talk

Brad further stated this. “It’s about the opportunity to be a builder — to partner with industry. It will let enable something that hasn’t yet been seen: the dawn of another era in globalization.

He talked about the shipping containers that eased up the moving of goods through the world in 1956. He also considers the Internet as the same example, introduced in 90s.  Furthermore, the internet has made the exchange of data and information very effective and efficient.

Furthermore, he talked about value, and how moving value takes a hefty fee and without any transparency and certainty. Obstacles in the global financial systems stop money from becoming interoperable by posing time, transactional and transparency errors. Furthermore, he added onto this: “it’s the segments of the population who are taxed the most by that $1.6 trillion who can least afford it.

Blockchain could be the solution to this problem. Decentralization makes this a giant step into building an open financial world for moving value across. Brad urged that Ripple is better because of its real-life application with its decentralized technology.

Finally, Garlinghouse stated: “Too many companies have a peanut butter problem. They’ve spread themselves very thin, working on lots of different initiatives.
